Manual Override Process
In the event of a misplaced or disabled key fob, your Harley-Davidson® Smart Security system can be disarmed by using your five digit, Personal Identification Number (PIN). Follow each slep in the process below carefully. Note; Do not turn handlebars, straddle seat or lift motorcycle off the iiffy stand. During a PIN disarm, if the Smart Segurity System delects motorcycle motion the system will activate the alarm.
Watch the condition of your motorcycle and you
Perform a one minute walk around while your bike is warming up and you put on your gear. Check all lights, turn signals, brake lights, and horn, then grab the front and rear tires with your hand to make sure tires are full or air. It only takes a few seconds and it could save your life. Make sure you drink enough water so you don't become faint from dehydration. Don't ride if you're too tired or if you've been drinking-those two elements definitely impair your judgment and drinking and driving is against the law. Keep yourself comfortable if you're wet motorcycling keeps you in a Zen state of mind-keep it that way!
Practice makes perfect
Practice using your brakes and swerving around obstacles. Practice riding your motorcycle; get comfortable with your motorcycle, especially if it's one you've never been on.
- If necessary, verify the current 5-digit PIN
- Turn ignition key to ignition
- quickly within 2 seconds of turning ignition key hold both turn signals switches in until confirmation. Key icon flashes at fast rate. In the odometer window, a flashing dash will be followed by four more dashes.
- Enter first digit (a) in the PIN presing left turn switch a times. The first digit (a) in the odometer will be the first digit in the PIN.
- Press right turn swicht 1 time. The first digit is stored and the dash will flash.
- Enter second digit (b) in the PIN by pressing left turn swich b times. The second digit (b) in the odometer will be fine second digit in the PIN.
- Press right turn switch 1 time. The second digit is stored and the next dash will flash.
- Enter third digit (c) in the PIN by pressing left turn switch c times. The third digit (c) in the odometer will be the third digit in the PIN
- Press right turn switch 1 times. The third digit is stored and the next dash will flash.
- Enter fourth digit (d) in the PIN by pressing left turn switch d times. The fourth digit (d) in the odometer will be the fourth digit in the PIN
- Press right turn switch 1 times. The fourth digit is stored in and the next dash will flash.
- Enter the fifht digit (e) in the PIN by pressing left turn switch e times. The fifth digit (e) in the odometer will be the fifth digit in the PIN
- Press right turn switch 1 time. The fifth digith is stored. The key icon stops blinking and the Smart Security System is disarmed
